It never fails, when you are planning your trip there are a
few things you may neglect to remember.
For the most part, they are very
helpful things and if you don’t have them, well it can be a little disruptive.
Depending on where you are going and how long you are staying the list of items you will need to bring will differ.
Whatever the case may be, if you are traveling abroad here
are all the necessary documents you will need to have.
1) Your
foreign passport with visa (if necessary)
2) Your
tickets (plane, train, bus – just any)
3) Your
hotel voucher (if you stay in a hotel)
4) Your
insurance (if you have one)
Are you traveling with a travel agency, well then you had better
make sure you have their telephone numbers and any other contacts for them both
in your home country and in the country of you are going to.
If you are going to a foreign country and you don’t speak the language, something that will be indispensable is having a phrase-book. A phrase-book is a collection of ready-made phrases, usually for a foreign language along with a translation, indexed and often in the form of questions and answers. In addition a phrase book generally features high clarity and a practical, sometimes color-coded structure to enable you to communicate in a quick and easy, though very basic, manner. So with this in mind a phrase book sometimes also provides several possible answers to each question, to let a person respond in part by pointing at one of them.
Now if you only plan to spend time away from home for only a
couple of days, then we suggest you only take your documents and a sufficient
amount of money. There are not a lot of things that you can’t live without for
several days or so. We’re sure you do want to waste your money, so be sure not to
forget your toothbrush and all your other personal hygiene items. Now if you
are staying in a prestigious hotel they’ll actually have those items already in
your room so those things won’t be necessary for you to bring at all. Be sure
to check prior to departing. It is better to be safe than sorry.
Most people have no idea what it is like not to have their
cell phone with them at all times, so naturally when travelling it’ll allow you
to keep in touch with their friends and relatives as well as allowing you to
take amazing pictures of your trip. However, some people leave their city and
have a strong desire to forget about all that they have left behind in their
world, so a radical approach some have taken to is actually PLAN not to bring
your cell phone with you. For some that’s a scary thought, it’s akin to walking
out of the house without having any clothes on, for others, it’s really
liberating to disconnect for a few days and get off the grid so to speak. They
still have phones in your room in the majority of places you’ll stay so you
will still have access to reaching out to someone in case of emergency.
It doesn’t matter how long your trip is going to be – DO NOT
FORGET YOUR MEDICATIONS!!! Especially if you are heading to some remote
location far from the big city you probably wouldn’t be able to find what you
need. But even if you are going to New York or Paris, do you really want to
spend your vacation time and money looking for some meds? Even then, it’s great
if the foreign pharmacists happens to know the name of your medication – but
what happens if they don’t?
Also as it relates to healthcare – it’s always highly
recommended to make sure you have all the vaccinations you need in the country
you are traveling to. It’s especially critical if you are going to one of the
tropical countries or to a country where an epidemic can wreck your plans. If
you need the list of the vaccinations they can easily be found with your travel
agency, with the embassy of the country, or just by simply looking online.
You’d think this wouldn’t need to be said but it happens. DO
NOT FORGET to also to take the clothes for you relaxing. That means your swimsuit,
T-shirts, your shorts for that beach resort and if your headed to the mountains
having a couple of the warm sweaters and blazers would definitely be a good
idea . Wherever you go, don’t forget those running shoes – trust us, nobody
likes taking a long walk in high heels or in uncomfortable shoes.
Is your flight going to be long? What about bus ride or
train? You would be wise to take some books, magazines, Kindle, or something
else to keep yourself (& the kids) entertained. Some children always travel with their blanket
or stuffed animal wherever they go. For God’s sake do not leave that behind or
you’ll be in for the longest short vacation you’d ever been on.
Anyways, make sure
you bring cash along with you credit card to help with any trouble. Having that
as a backup you should be able to buy almost anything, almost anywhere.
